Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) is significantly expanding its flight network across Central Asia, strengthening air connectivity between Baku and key cities in the region.
The airline now connects Baku with 10 cities across four Central Asian countries, operating 48 flights per week following the launch of new services to Shymkent, Atyrau and Aktobe, Caliber.Az reports, citing AZAL.
Around 400,000 passengers have used AZAL’s Central Asian routes since the beginning of 2026, representing a 35% increase compared with the same period last year.
Kazakhstan accounts for the largest share of AZAL’s regional network, with 31 weekly flights to six cities. The airline operates daily services to Almaty, Astana and Aktau, while flights to Atyrau run four times a week and services to Shymkent and Aktobe three times a week.
In Uzbekistan, AZAL operates daily flights to Tashkent and twice-weekly services to Samarkand. The network also includes four weekly flights to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and four to Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The expanding network provides passengers from Central Asia with convenient connections through Baku to European and other international destinations. Since the beginning of 2026, some 58,734 passengers traveling on these routes have used connections in Baku, underscoring the capital’s growing role as a regional transit hub.
Passengers can book tickets, purchase additional baggage and select seats through AZAL’s website and mobile application. Members of the AZAL Miles loyalty program can also earn miles on their flights.
Under a partnership with Uzum Bank, passengers from Uzbekistan can pay for AZAL tickets using HUMO and Uzcard cards.
