Personal meetings with Polish President Karol Nawrocki are being offered for sale at international events, an investigation by Polish Newsweek magazine and Radio Zet has found.
According to the media outlets, the Centre for Development Strategies foundation organised a business summit in New York called the Polish-American Business Summit. Participants at the event could purchase a Platinum package for $100,000, which included an opportunity to speak one-on-one with Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
A Gold package cost $50,000 and offered a meeting with the president in a very small group, while a Silver package was priced at $25,000 and provided access to a broader VIP area where participants could also meet Nawrocki, according to an informant cited by Radio Zet.
The publication sparked a scandal in Poland. Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka questioned whether access to the country’s president could be obtained through a “large money transfer.” Meanwhile, Poland’s Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk called on Nawrocki to publicly comment on the situation.
