Armenia’s parliamentary speaker Alen Simonyan said on X that peace with Azerbaijan has “taken hold” after the 2025 agreement, describing it as a “historic step” that opens the way for greater regional cooperation and trust.
Speaking at the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Istanbul on a session titled “Nurturing Hope, Securing Peace and Ensuring Justice for Future Generations,” Simonyan said Armenia remains committed to consolidating the peace process and translating diplomatic progress into practical outcomes.
He added that Yerevan is focused on sustaining dialogue and ensuring that reconciliation efforts deliver “real opportunities on the ground.”
He also signalled readiness to expand regional cooperation, including with Türkiye, amid broader efforts to stabilise the South Caucasus and improve connectivity.
