Russian air defence forces have shot down five drones flying toward Moscow, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Sobyanin added that emergency services were working at the sites where debris from the downed drones fell.

Restrictions on the use of airspace have been in effect in the area of Moscow’s Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports since around 2:50 a.m. Moscow time.

Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, known as Rosaviatsiya, warned that flight schedules could be affected.
