A strong partnership has developed between Azerbaijan and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO), with its regional office in Baku playing a special role, an official has said.
Abdulhakeem Alsenan, director of ICESCO’s regional office in Azerbaijan, made the remarks at the first congress of the Union of Composers of the Turkic World in Baku, according to local media.
He said it was no coincidence that the congress was being held during celebrations of the legacy of Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
“Uzeyir Hajibeyli shaped Azerbaijan’s modern musical identity. He showed us that culture is one of the fundamental pillars of preserving national identity. Uzeyir Bey’s work once again proves to the world that music has no language. Music is universal,” Alsenan said.
