A massive drone attack on the Russian capital and surrounding region damaged a facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery and a building in the city, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said while reporting on a new wave of drone attacks.
“The most massive attack by enemy drones has been repelled. Since yesterday, more than 1,600 UAVs have been shot down along all defensive lines. Of these, 450 were intercepted while approaching Moscow,” Sobyanin wrote on Telegram.
According to the mayor, a facility on the grounds of the Moscow Oil Refinery was damaged. There were no casualties, and emergency services were working at the site.
In addition, one of the drones struck a building in the area of Orekhovy Boulevard.
The Moscow Region also came under a massive UAV attack, with 249 drones shot down across 17 districts, Governor Andrey Vorobyov said. Two people were killed, fires broke out in two apartment buildings and a warehouse complex, while another apartment building was damaged.
