US President Donald Trump left the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland a day earlier than scheduled.
According to the White House press pool, the president returned to Washington, although his schedule had indicated that he was not expected to arrive until the evening of September 20. The White House did not explain the reason for the change in schedule.
US media outlets have linked Trump’s early departure to developments in the Middle East. According to The Hill, Trump’s decision coincided with a strike by Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement on Riyadh, which was intercepted by Saudi air defenses. Meanwhile, Fox News reported that the president’s return was linked to Iran conveying terms for ending the war through Qatari mediators, with Washington expected to respond.
