International flights operated by Iranian airlines are continuing despite threats of sanctions from the US, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation has said.
“No international flight operated by Iranian airlines has been cancelled,” an organisation representative said, Interfax reports.
“They are currently operating according to schedule. We have not received any instructions to suspend international flights.”
The official said flights would continue according to schedule in October.
He added that Iran Air flights to Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Iraq were continuing without disruption.
On September 22, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said all international Iranian flights could be cancelled from September 23 because of sanctions the US plans to impose on companies servicing Iranian aircraft.
“All Iranian airlines will cease operations worldwide on September 23,” he said.
