Latvia has handed over three Estonian citizens suspected of setting fire to a building used by defence company Milrem Robotics in Tallinn.
Estonian State Prosecutor Gardi Anderson said all three have been remanded in custody with court approval, Caliber.Az reports, citing Estonian media.
After being transferred to Estonia, the suspects were questioned by the Internal Security Service before appearing before Harju County Court. After examining the evidence gathered so far and the results of the interrogations, the court found their detention justified.
According to Anderson, the suspects are currently charged with damaging and destroying property, although the legal classification of the case may change as the investigation progresses. The investigation is ongoing, including an examination of the possibility that the incident was an act of sabotage.
The building used by Milrem Robotics caught fire on the night of August 15 in Tallinn’s Lasnamäe district. A resident had previously reported suspicious activity near the site. Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said investigators were also examining the possibility of Russian involvement.
