Kazakhstan’s peacekeeping contingent serving with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) on the Golan Heights has carried out 470 operational activities over the past four months, the country’s Defence Ministry said.

The contingent conducted 379 patrols in its area of responsibility, while an engineering and demining team detected and destroyed 350 explosive devices and 1,800 items of small-arms ammunition, the ministry said.

The peacekeepers also established 49 temporary night observation posts and held 11 exercises involving rapid reaction forces.

The contingent continues to operate under the UN mandate, carrying out patrols, monitoring the situation, reinforcing observation posts and evacuating UN personnel when necessary, the ministry said.
