Romania has expressed readiness to support the establishment of cooperation between regions and cities of the two countries as part of efforts to further develop bilateral relations with Azerbaijan.
Romanian Presidential Adviser for Administration, Governance Policy and Civil Society Bogdan-Florin Criste made the remarks during a meeting with Elchin Yusubov, the Azerbaijani president’s special representative in the city of Khankendi and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, who is on an official visit to Romania, domestic media reports.
The sides discussed Azerbaijan-Romania relations, prospects for establishing ties between Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region and Romanian regions, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
Yusubov briefed his counterpart in detail on reconstruction and construction projects being carried out in the territories recaptured by Azerbaijan, the “Great Return” process and the favourable conditions created for foreign investors.
Criste said Romania was ready to provide comprehensive support for establishing cooperation between Romanian and Azerbaijani regions and cities with the aim of further developing bilateral relations.
As part of his visit, Yusubov also met with Gabriel-Codru Pleșa, mayor of the Romanian city of Alba Iulia.
The sides discussed opportunities for economic cooperation, support for establishing business ties, identifying areas of mutually beneficial cooperation and organising reciprocal visits.
Particular attention was paid to the potential for cooperation in tourism, as well as promoting the cultural and historical monuments of the two countries.
