Azerbaijan plays an important role in strengthening regional and European connectivity and energy security, Moldovan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alexander Esaulenko said at an event in Baku marking the 35th anniversary of Moldova’s Independence Day.


“Azerbaijan plays an important role in strengthening regional and European connectivity and energy security. Moldova, for its part, is interested in making more effective use of opportunities for cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, investment, agriculture, transport and infrastructure,” Esaulenko stated, Caliber.Az reports per local media.


The ambassador noted that relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan are developing on the basis of mutual respect, trust, and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries.


According to Esaulenko, bilateral relations are currently gaining positive momentum.


“High-level political dialogue, parliamentary and intergovernmental contacts, as well as sectoral cooperation, provide a solid foundation for achieving further results,” he said.


Esaulenko highlighted the particular importance of economic and energy cooperation, saying Moldova is interested in making more effective use of opportunities in energy, trade, investment, agriculture, transport and infrastructure.


He also expressed hope that political dialogue would continue to develop into concrete projects, while cooperation between businesses and investment would expand.


“We are convinced that a peaceful, stable and interconnected South Caucasus serves the interests of all states and peoples of the region,” the ambassador added.
