No vessel can move through the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Gulf of Oman without being monitored by Iran, a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy official said, adding that the force is capable of striking any vessel if ordered.
Ali Mohammadi, political deputy of the IRGC Navy, made the remarks at a ceremony commemorating fallen Iranian servicemen in the northern city of Babol, Mazandaran Province.
Mohammadi highlighted the IRGC Navy’s indigenous capabilities and readiness, saying its strength had been developed through faith, operational experience and strategic planning. He said Iranian forces had gained extensive experience through years of operations and training along the country’s coasts, islands and maritime areas.
Addressing US efforts to undermine Iran’s resolve, Mohammadi said Washington should not assume that attacks on infrastructure, including bridges and roads, could force Iran to surrender.
He also pointed to the IRGC Navy’s continued presence under difficult conditions, including on Farsi Island, describing the strategic island as an example of Iran’s sustained maritime presence.
Mohammadi said Iranian forces had spent years preparing for both conventional and unconventional warfare and were ready for a direct confrontation at sea.
