The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, SOCAR, organised a media tour of the Ethylene-Polyethylene plant of the Azerikimya Production Association ahead of Oil Workers’ Day, celebrated on September 20.
Held as part of the Energy Dialogue Platform, more than 30 media representatives took part in the tour, Caliber.Az reports.
Participants were first briefed in detail on the plant’s operations, production capacity and modernisation projects implemented there over the years.
Officials noted that the plant operates ethylene and polyethene production facilities, as well as units producing steam and electricity.
Following reconstruction and modernisation works, the plant’s annual design capacity was increased to 190,000 tonnes of ethylene and 187,000 tonnes of propylene.
The facility, commissioned in 2001, supplies steam and electricity to the plant’s production sites.
The media representatives then toured the plant’s production facilities.
