BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Uzbekistan and
Azerbaijan are seeking to strengthen cooperation in the fields of
justice and legal affairs, with a focus on digitalization, modern
technologies, and the exchange of expertise.


This was reflected in the statement by the Uzbekistan’s Justice
Ministry, following a meeting between Justice Minister Akbar
Tashkulov and Rashad Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s newly appointed
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan.


“During the meeting, the current state of cooperation between
Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in the field of justice and law, issues
of further strengthening existing ties, as well as priority areas
of cooperation were discussed,” the Uzbek Justice Ministry said in
a statement following the meeting.


The sides reviewed the current state of cooperation in the
justice and legal sectors, discussed ways to strengthen existing
ties and identified priority areas for further interaction.


The ministry said the two countries share longstanding
historical, cultural and linguistic ties, along with common
spiritual values, customs and traditions. These connections have
provided a foundation for the development of bilateral relations in
recent years.


Particular attention was given to cooperation on the
digitalization of public services, the introduction of modern
technologies and the exchange of best practices.


The parties emphasized the importance of continuing this work
under the 2027–2028 Cooperation Program signed on August 23, 2026,
between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice and Azerbaijan’s State
Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the
President of Azerbaijan.


The program provides a framework for continued cooperation
between the two countries’ institutions in improving public
services and applying modern approaches to government
administration.


The meeting also underscored the broader momentum in
Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan relations, with the two sides looking to
build on existing institutional ties and expand practical
cooperation in areas of mutual interest.


The sides agreed on the importance of maintaining regular
dialogue and pursuing concrete initiatives to further strengthen
cooperation in justice, legal affairs and digital public
services.
