Baku has become a capital of the international community, Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev said on September 15.

Omuraliev made the remarks during a meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing state media.

The meeting brought together the OTS Secretary General, members and observers of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the OTS, as well as a delegation comprising co-organisers of the Yahya Bakuvi International Conference and members of the Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples.

“Your Excellency, we highly appreciate your efforts in promoting our common brotherhood, and you have demonstrated this once again today,” Omuraliev said.

He noted that the seventh meeting of the religious leaders of the Turkic world had been held in Baku the previous day.

“Of course, the international conference that followed demonstrates once again how Baku has become a capital of the international community,” the OTS Secretary General said.

Omuraliev also praised President Aliyev's leadership, saying that following the Victory, not only the Azerbaijani people but also Azerbaijanis living around the world take pride in his leadership qualities.

He noted that the Turkic world cooperates in more than 60 areas and highlighted religion as one of these areas.

“This is a very important issue. In particular, we are adopting decisions in order to announce the decisions of the Fatwa Committee,” Omuraliev said.
