Mukhtar Babayev, Azerbaijan's Presidential Representative on Climate Issues, held a meeting with Sara Pavkov, Serbia’s Minister of Environmental Protection, where discussions centred on opportunities to further deepen bilateral cooperation.

In a post about the meeting, which took place within the framework of the Regional Environmental Summit (RES 2026) in Astana, Babayev said: “Had a constructive exchange with Sara Pavkov, Minister of Environmental Protection of Serbia, on the margins of RES 2026.”

He noted that the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation on the climate agenda ahead of COP31.

Babayev also emphasized that Serbia’s planned hosting of World Environment Day in 2027 reflects the global importance of the environmental agenda.

“Serbia’s upcoming hosting of World Environment Day 2027 reflects the continued importance of this global moment. WED2026 [World Environment Day] in Azerbaijan this June offers a natural point of connection, with continuity and shared experience between host countries already taking shape,” Babayev concluded.
