Iran is prepared to resume negotiations with the United States, but only on the basis of what it describes as a rational approach and mutual respect for Tehran’s rights.
This was stated by Iran’s Supreme Leader’s representative in India Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, Caliber.Az reports, citing Indian media.
“We are ready for negotiations, but on the basis of rationality, dignity, humanity and respect for our rights. We have never left the negotiating table; they left it because they made too many demands,” he said.
Ilahi accused the United States of making “unlimited demands” in previous discussions.
He further stressed that Iran is prepared to continue defending itself in a prolonged confrontation with the United States if necessary.
“As you know, we did not start this war; we are not its initiators. They [the United States] imposed it on us, and we began defending ourselves, and we are still ready to defend ourselves, even for two, three, five years. We are not going to compromise our dignity, submit, or give our country and our rights to the other side,” he said.
