Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has proposed the creation of a unified European missile defence system, which he called “Euro Patriot,” arguing that Europe should draw lessons from the war in Ukraine.
Speaking about European defence priorities, Babiš said particular attention should be given to protecting against ballistic missile threats, Caliber.Az reports via Czech media.
“We must learn from the experience of the war in Ukraine and seek an effective solution, first and foremost in the area of defence against ballistic missiles,” he said.
According to Babiš, a joint European missile defence system could complement NATO’s existing defence capabilities and strengthen Europe’s ability to respond to emerging security threats.
He also suggested that the project could be developed using a model similar to European cooperation in the aerospace industry, pointing to the joint production of Airbus aircraft as an example of how European countries can pool resources and industrial capabilities.
