BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The Korea
Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) plans to open a
representative office in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan,
Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Cho
Jung-sik said this during a meeting with President of Kyrgyzstan
Sadyr Japarov in Seoul.
"He noted that, in order to support Korean companies operating
in Kyrgyzstan, the opening of a KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment
Promotion Agency) representative office is planned," the statement
said.
The opening of the KOTRA representative office is aimed at
supporting Korean companies operating in Kyrgyzstan and further
developing trade and economic cooperation between the two
countries.
Cho Jung-sik also noted the growth in bilateral trade turnover
and emphasized the importance of further expanding economic
ties.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea have been
developing cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure,
technology and other areas. The two countries have also been
discussing opportunities to expand business ties and facilitate
greater interaction between their private sectors. The planned
KOTRA representative office could provide an institutional platform
for supporting Korean businesses in the Kyrgyz market and
facilitating contacts between companies from the two countries.
The planned expansion of KOTRA’s presence could contribute to
greater visibility of investment and business opportunities in
Kyrgyzstan for Korean companies. In practical terms, the agency’s
local presence could facilitate market information exchange,
business matching and support for companies seeking to establish or
expand operations in the country.
