A total of 50 families have returned to the town of Khojavend, the settlement of Girmizi Bazar and the village of Guzeyharman as part of Azerbaijan’s Great Return programme.

According to local media, 33 families comprising 135 people have relocated to Khojavend, while nine families, or 44 people, have returned to Girmizi Bazar. Another eight families, totalling 41 people, have moved to Guzeyharman.

The families had previously been temporarily accommodated in dormitories, sanatoriums, children’s camps, unfinished buildings and administrative facilities.

The returns are being carried out under the Great Return programme implemented on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev.

Former internally displaced persons have been returning to their homeland following the liberation of the territories in the 2020 Patriotic War.

The returning residents expressed gratitude to President Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for state support, and to the Azerbaijani Army for liberating the territories from occupation.
