President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu and the people of the Maldives on the country's Independence Day, emphasizing the steady expansion of bilateral relations and expressing confidence in closer cooperation.
In a congratulatory letter addressed to President Muizzu, Aliyev extended his sincere congratulations and best wishes on behalf of himself and the people of Azerbaijan, wishing peace, prosperity, and continued success to the Maldives, Caliber.Az reports.
"The current dynamics of development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Maldives, the expansion of our mutually beneficial cooperation are gratifying," Aliyev said.
The Azerbaijani president noted that the launch of direct flights between the two countries and the recent mutual visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports have given a significant boost to people-to-people contacts, particularly in the field of tourism.
Aliyev also underscored the importance of this year, as Azerbaijan and the Maldives mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
"I am confident that we will continue to make joint efforts to strengthen friendly ties between our countries, which celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, and enrich mutually beneficial cooperation with new content," he said.
Concluding his message, Aliyev wished President Muizzu robust health, happiness, and success in his endeavors, while expressing hopes for lasting peace and prosperity for the people of the Maldives.
