Alternative for Germany (AfD) co-leader Alice Weidel has called for Ukrainian refugees of military age to return to their home country.
“Clearly, we must close our borders. Illegal migration is no longer acceptable, and we must enforce law and order. This means that, under the law, we are obliged to deport people who are required to leave the country,” Weidel said in an interview with the AUF1 YouTube channel.
In this context, the AfD leader referred to Syrians living in Germany, who she believes should also return to their homeland.
“And the same, of course, applies to the more than one million Ukrainians who receive citizen’s benefits. This is simply incomprehensible. And all of this can no longer be financed. These Ukrainians should also return. Above all, young Ukrainian men of military age who are liable for military service,” Weidel stated.
She pledged that if the AfD comes to power, Germany would end its assistance to Kyiv.
“We will also make significant demands on Ukraine for the repayment of funds,” the AfD co-leader concluded.
