Kyrgyzstan significantly increased its production of motor fuels in the first five months of 2026, reflecting expanding domestic refining capacity and higher output from the country's oil processing sector.

According to the National Statistics Committee, gasoline production rose by 53% year-on-year to 101,200 metric tons between January and May. Diesel fuel output grew even more sharply, increasing by 69% to 102,800 metric tons over the same period, Caliber.Az reports via Kyrgyz media.

Kyrgyzstan currently has seven mini-refineries in operation. The largest is the Junda refinery, owned by China's Shanxi Coal Chemical Industry Group, with an annual processing capacity of 800,000 metric tons of feedstock. The second-largest is the Kyrgyz Petroleum Company, a subsidiary of the state-owned Kyrgyzneftegaz, which has an annual processing capacity of 500,000 metric tons.

The rise in fuel production comes as Kyrgyzstan seeks to strengthen its domestic refining industry and reduce reliance on imported petroleum products.
