A final statement has been adopted at the 4th International Mine Action Conference, jointly organised by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) and the United Nations (UN) Office in Azerbaijan.
According to local media, the statement was presented by Shamil Rzayev, First Deputy Chairman of the ANAMA Board.
The two-day conference, which concluded on September 3, brought together more than 400 representatives from 60 countries under the theme “Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements.”
Discussions focused on the role of mine action in safe and sustainable urban recovery, international cooperation and donor support, technological innovation, and the exchange of national experiences and best practices.
The event also served as an important platform for highlighting Azerbaijan’s contribution to international cooperation in the field.
The conference also aimed to raise international awareness of Azerbaijan’s mine problem, strengthen partnerships in humanitarian demining and mobilise international efforts to address the mine threat.
