Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates have signed a memorandum on the mutual recognition and exchange of national driver's licenses, a move aimed at simplifying administrative procedures for citizens of both countries.
The memorandum was signed during the visit of Kazakh Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov to Abu Dhabi, where he held talks with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
"The key outcome of the talks was the signing of a Memorandum on the Mutual Recognition and Exchange of Driver's Licenses between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates. The signing of the document is aimed at simplifying administrative procedures and creating additional convenience for the citizens of both countries," Kazakhstan's Interior Ministry said.
According to the ministry, approximately 400,000 Kazakh citizens visit the UAE each year, while around 14,000 Kazakhstanis reside permanently in the Emirates.
The memorandum provides for the mutual recognition of national driver's licenses and introduces a simplified procedure for exchanging them in cases covered by the agreement. It will enter into force after both countries complete the necessary domestic legal procedures.
