BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 6. China will tighten
export control on dual-use items destined for Japan starting
January 6, Trend
reports, citing the country's Ministry of Commerce.

Under the newly implemented measures, China will prohibit the
export of all dual-use goods, technologies, and services to
Japanese military entities, for military applications, or for any
use that could potentially bolster Japan’s military capabilities.
The Ministry further emphasized that any organizations or
individuals, regardless of their location, found to be transferring
or supplying China-origin dual-use items to Japan in violation of
these regulations will be held legally accountable.

This decision aligns with China’s existing laws and regulations
aimed at safeguarding national security and state interests, while
also fulfilling its international obligations, including
commitments related to non-proliferation, as highlighted by the
Ministry.

A spokesperson for the Ministry clarified that the move is a
response to recent comments made by Japan’s leadership concerning
China’s Taiwan region, which were described as inaccurate and
suggestive of possible military involvement in the Taiwan Strait.
The spokesperson stated that such remarks interfere with China’s
internal affairs and represent a serious violation of the one-China
principle.

Dual-use items are generally defined as products and
technologies that have both civilian and military applications,
including those that may contribute to the development or
enhancement of military capabilities.
