Smoke was seen rising over the Rostov Sea Commercial Port following an overnight attack, while a residential high-rise in Rostov-on-Don was also damaged, according to an OSINT analysis by ASTRA.
Residents across Russia's Rostov region reported explosions and fires during the night of July 27. According to ASTRA, one of the damaged buildings is a residential apartment block located at 117B Beregovaya Street. The outlet also said that residents were being evacuated.
The information was later confirmed by the regional governor, who said the attack killed two people and injured five others.
ASTRA noted that the Rostov Sea Commercial Port is located about 1.5 kilometres from the damaged residential building. Later reports indicated that smoke was rising over the port following the attack.
According to the port's official information, Rostov Sea Commercial Port is a universal cargo-handling complex. Although it is situated on the Don River, it is classified as a seaport because it is part of the Azov–Black Sea Basin and serves international maritime traffic.
The port receives vessels sailing under foreign flags, handles border clearance procedures for international ships, and operates routes to countries across the Black Sea and Mediterranean basins.
