United Russia is receiving 57.53% of the vote in Russia’s State Duma election after more than 70% of the protocols have been processed, according to results published on the website of Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC).
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) follows with 14%, while the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) has 8.73%, Russian media reports.
New People has received 7.97% of the vote, while A Just Russia is polling at 5.03%. The figures reflect the results recorded at this stage of the vote count.
Earlier, CEC Chair Ella Pamfilova said the final results of the State Duma election would not be announced before September 25. She stressed that ensuring the integrity of the electoral campaign was the main task.
Pamfilova also said joint efforts by the CEC and Russia’s Foreign Ministry had made it possible to open 333 polling stations for the State Duma election in 152 countries. According to her, around 14,000 Russians from 28 countries were able to vote early. She noted that the agencies had done everything possible and impossible to make this possible.
CEC member Pavel Andreev also noted that the current State Duma election campaign had been unprecedented and more complex from a technological and organisational standpoint than Russia’s presidential election. He stressed that electing a legitimate and effective parliament under the current circumstances was a task of paramount importance.
