Azerbaijan and China have discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in green and sustainable urban development, infrastructure, culture and tourism, drawing on the experience of Lachin district and the Chinese city of Shaoxing.
The discussions took place between Masim Mammadov, special representative of the Azerbaijani president in Lachin district, and Shi Huifang, secretary of the Shaoxing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, during Mammadov’s visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese side, Caliber.Az reports via state media.
Mammadov is in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, to participate in the main global event of World Cleanup Day 2026. During the meeting, he provided information on large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts underway in Lachin district, while Shaoxing’s experience in urban development was also highlighted.
The sides noted that, thanks to the political will and strategic leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping, bilateral relations are developing dynamically, with cooperation steadily expanding across various areas.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of the main global World Cleanup Day event in promoting sustainable development principles, creating a clean and modern urban environment, and facilitating international exchange of experience in this field.
