Ukraine has received 30 diesel generators from Switzerland for use in Kyiv and four Ukrainian regions, the country’s Energy Ministry says.
The generators were delivered in the first half of September with Swiss support from Energy Ministry warehouses to Kyiv, as well as the Kyiv, Poltava, Odesa and Cherkasy regions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The deliveries come ahead of winter, after extensive damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure last winter led to prolonged power and heating cuts.
Serhii Beskrestnov, an informal adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy specialising in communications and drones, has urged Ukrainians to stock up on generators and power banks.
Oleksii Kucherenko, a member of Ukraine’s parliament and first deputy chairman of its energy and housing committee, has also advised people to prepare for winter by storing water and firewood.
Ukrainian authorities have warned that the coming winter could be more difficult.
