Poland’s beer exports to Russia reached a record high in July, surging 5.5-fold year-on-year, according to Eurostat data analysed by RIA Novosti.
The value of Polish beer shipments to Russia rose to €3.3 million, up 44% from June and marking the highest level recorded in trade between the two countries.
Overall, beer imports to Russia from the European Union totalled €4.2 million in July, the highest figure since September last year, when they approached €5 million.
The monthly volume of EU beer exports to Russia increased by 3%, although it remained 44% lower than a year earlier.
Besides Poland, Russia imported beer from several other EU member states, including Czechia, which supplied €403,000 worth of beer, Belgium with €166,000, Latvia with €134,000, Germany with €114,000 and Lithuania with €106,000.
Russia ranked 12th among the largest buyers of beer from EU countries in July. The United States was the largest market, with imports worth €43 million, followed by the United Kingdom at €35.4 million, China at €31.4 million, Belarus at €18.3 million and Canada at €10 million.
