First frosts to hit Ukraine by late September, meteorologists warn

The first frosts are expected to hit Ukraine by the end of September, while temperatures will drop sharply in October, according to meteorologists.

They said the first ground frosts may occur as early as September 25–30, with temperatures falling to 0°C to -1°C in some areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukranian media.

The Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions will be the first to experience the colder weather.

A more significant drop in temperatures is forecast for October 15–25.

Night-time temperatures in the north and east could fall to -2°C to -6°C.

The Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Luhansk regions face the greatest risk due to possible incursions of cold, dry air from Scandinavia.

The south will remain significantly warmer, with night-time temperatures expected to stay around +5°C to +8°C even during the colder spell.
