The Armenian government has said that the cost of implementing the TRIPP infrastructure project has not yet been finalised and remains under discussion with American partners, according to Deputy Finance Minister Avag Avanesyan.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Eurasian Development Bank business forum in Almaty, Avanesyan said that while preliminary estimates exist, they are not yet public, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

He added that the figures are still being reviewed in coordination with U.S. partners and will be announced once finalised.

When asked about earlier estimates for the construction of a railway in the Syunik region—previously projected at around $200–220 million—Avanesyan said that most major infrastructure investment is expected to be carried out by American partners.

He noted that it was difficult to comment on the partners’ financial commitments in advance, emphasising that assessments are ongoing and that official updates will be provided once negotiations are completed.

On August 8, 2025, following a trilateral meeting in Washington with US President Donald Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint declaration on a peace settlement between Baku and Yerevan and the establishment of a transport link connecting mainland Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan.

The initiative was named the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).
