The process of the Great Return to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories is progressing at full speed, with residential housing and essential infrastructure already established, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President, has stated.

During an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku, he said there are currently 72 settlements in Aghdam district, 60 in Fuzuli, and 83 in Khojavend, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

In the three districts, 11 residential quarters, 25,000 apartments, and 1,864 private houses have already been built, alongside the establishment of essential infrastructure.

Huseynov made it clear that three villages and one residential complex have been commissioned in Aghdam, where 7,000 people currently live.

In Fuzuli and Khojavend, an additional 3,000 residents have been resettled.

In total, the population across the three districts now stands at 13,700 people.

He also emphasised the scale of destruction in Aghdam and Fuzuli, saying: “While at least ruins remain in Aghdam as evidence of its former urban life, Fuzuli was completely wiped off the map.”

Of the 13,600 square kilometres of Azerbaijani territory liberated after 30 years of occupation, 2,700 square kilometres fall within the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts.

Huseynov also said that Aghdam and Fuzuli are among the largest districts in the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions in terms of population, area, and economic activity, adding: “At the same time, these were the most destroyed and completely plundered cities.”
