An Israeli cabinet minister said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to speak with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun later today, on April 16, in what would mark the first direct contact between the two countries’ leaders in years.
“The prime minister will speak for the first time with the president of Lebanon after so many years of a complete breakdown in dialogue between the two countries,” Israeli minister Gila Gamliel told Israeli Army Radio, Caliber.Az reports per Al Jazeera.
“This move will hopefully ultimately lead to prosperity and flourishing for Lebanon as a state”.
Earlier, we reported that they would hold the talks, but without a date. However, a Lebanese source told Reuters earlier that there was no information about any planned call between the two sides.
