Iranian officials and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir are set to hold talks in Tehran on April 16 as part of efforts to revive negotiations with the United States, CNN reports via Iranian media.

Iran has been exchanging messages with the US via Pakistan amid intensified diplomatic efforts to launch a second round of talks between Tehran and Washington.

Munir, described as a key mediator, travelled to Tehran on April 15 and met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. According to Pakistani military sources, the delegation led by Munir carried a message from Washington.

In a statement following the meeting, Araghchi said he was “very pleased” to host Munir in Iran and reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to “promoting peace and stability in the region.”

It remains unclear whether Araghchi will meet Munir again on the same day.
