The United Kingdom has declined to participate in a US-led blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, reaffirming its commitment to freedom of navigation and open maritime routes.
A UK government spokesperson said they continued to support freedom of navigation and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which is essential for supporting the global economy and reducing the cost of living in our country, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
“The Strait of Hormuz must not be subject to tolling. We are urgently working with France and other partners to put together a wide coalition to protect freedom of navigation,” the spokesperson added.
