Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Ukraine, Seymur Mardaliyev, said he held talks with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba during a field visit with members of the diplomatic corps, highlighting Baku’s support for Ukraine’s energy sector amid wartime pressures.
The ambassador noted that the Ukrainian official expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s assistance as Kyiv continues to face major challenges to its energy infrastructure.
On January 20, Azerbaijan dispatched a shipment of electrical equipment to Ukraine worth around $1 million, including generators, transformers, low-voltage panels, and 27,000 metres of cables, following a presidential order. The Ministry of Energy organised the delivery at Ukraine’s request to support electricity restoration.
Earlier, on February 3, further aid was sent under the “Warmth for Ukraine” initiative, consisting of 17 generators, four portable power systems, and three heat guns. The supplies, organised by Azerbaijani organisations and citizens, are intended for the State Emergency Service and local communities affected by Russian attacks, helping to restore electricity and heating.
Baku reports that its total humanitarian support for Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction has now exceeded $45 million.
