The US State Department denounced Iran’s nationwide internet shutdown, now entering its second week, accusing the Iranian leadership of deliberately attempting to hide violent repression from the international community.

The State Department’s post on social media platform X, emphasized the scope and intent of the blackout, Caliber.Az reports.

“The full and nationwide internet shutdown in Iran has now entered its second week — over 190 hours during which the Islamic Republic regime has deliberately cut off the Iranian people’s connection to the outside world,” the post by the Persian-language account of the State Department noted.

“Censoring the nation cannot silence their voice in defence of freedom, nor can it hide the violent actions of the Islamic Republic regime. The world is watching,” the department added.
