BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. Uzbekistan’s
Fergana region and U.S. organization Make American Cotton Great
Again (MACGA) signed a memorandum of understanding worth $35
million to expand cooperation with the country’s textile industry
during business meetings held alongside the C5+1 ministerial
meeting in Samarkand on October 19.

This was reflected in the statement by the Fergana regional
government, following a meeting between a delegation led by Fergana
Region Deputy Governor Islamjon Madaminov and representatives of
U.S. companies.

Representatives of MACGA, Honeywell International, Integrated
Global Services (IGS), Air Products, Siguler Gulf, ITF Group and
Logan University participated in business-to-business meetings with
executives from the Fergana Oil Refinery, Quartz JSC and Global
Textile.

The discussions covered the introduction of new technologies and
automation at the Fergana Oil Refinery, corrosion protection for
industrial equipment, and opportunities to reduce natural gas
consumption at glass-melting furnaces through oxy-fuel
technology.

The participants also explored ways to expand cooperation in the
textile industry, with agreements reached in several areas.

The $35 million memorandum between MACGA and the Global Textile
group was the main outcome of the meetings. The parties did not
disclose the agreement’s implementation timeline or provide a
breakdown of the planned investments.

The meetings were aimed at establishing business partnerships
between Fergana-based enterprises and U.S. companies in
manufacturing, industrial technology, energy efficiency and
textiles.
