Romania scrambled two F-16 fighter jets after its radar surveillance system detected an air target near the country’s border, the Ministry of National Defence said.
The target was detected on September 21, about 12 km north of Chilia, near the border.
The National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, which took measures to alert residents in northern Tulcea County.
The two F-16s were sent up to monitor the situation.
The air alert was later cancelled. The ministry said no violation of Romanian airspace had been detected.
