US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has congratulated Armenia on its Independence Day, saying Washington looks forward to advancing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend warm congratulations to the people of Armenia on your Independence Day,” Rubio said in a statement on September 21.
He noted that Armenia was marking 35 years since regaining its independence and said the United States celebrated the country’s progress towards “a more peaceful, prosperous, and democratic future”.
“The historic progress we have made together over the past year demonstrates what is possible when we work toward a shared vision of peace and prosperity,” Rubio said.
He added that Washington looked forward to “advancing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), strengthening economic connectivity, encouraging American investment, and helping unlock new opportunities for Armenia and the broader region”.
Rubio also said the United States anticipated deepening its partnership with Armenia in the coming years.
On August 8, 2025, a Joint Declaration was signed in Washington during a summit hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump, attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The leaders endorsed a joint declaration outlining a seven-point framework emphasising sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the renunciation of force.
Foreign ministers from both nations initialled a draft “Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations,” witnessed by Trump, Aliyev, and Pashinyan.
A key feature of the agreement is the creation of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), also called the Zangezur Corridor — a transit passage through Armenia’s Syunik province connecting mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave.
