French President Emmanuel Macron will meet leaders of parties represented in parliament and their presidential candidates on September 18 to discuss the worsening international situation and its consequences for France.

The meeting will focus on conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as their implications for France’s security and energy sectors, according to Le Figaro.

The Élysée Palace said the meeting was being held against the backdrop of a “rapid deterioration in the international situation” in recent days.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, along with representatives of the defence ministry and intelligence services, will also attend.

They will brief Macron on the information available to the French authorities.
