Azerbaijan is focusing on economic diversification, innovation and the development of skills needed for emerging industries, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said following the opening of Baku ID 2026.
Jabbarov said on X that he and colleagues attended the fifth edition of Baku ID, as well as a panel discussion dedicated to the Azerbaijan Skills Accelerator initiative, Caliber.Az reports.
The event is being held at the SABAH.city innovation campus in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Education, the Centre for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM), PASHA Holding and SOCAR.
According to Jabbarov, the discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of knowledge and skills in the economy while supporting the development of new business models and Azerbaijan’s non-oil and gas sectors.
He also said the participants discussed ways to prepare human capital for future economic needs through greater public-private cooperation.
“Together with colleagues, we attended the opening of Baku ID 2026, held for the fifth time, as well as a panel discussion on the Azerbaijan Skills Accelerator initiative,” Jabbarov wrote.
He added that the discussions also focused on developing skills for digital services, advanced technologies and other emerging areas, describing these efforts as part of broader support for Azerbaijan’s innovation ecosystem and knowledge-based economy.
