Azerbaijan has extended the special quarantine regime over coronavirus infection (COVID-19) until 6:00 am on 2 January 2027 to prevent its spread and potential consequences across the country, the Cabinet of Ministers has stated.


The report said Prime Minister Ali Asadov signed the relevant decision.


According to World Health Organisation statistics, 17,946 COVID-19 cases were reported worldwide in the seven days to 30 August 2026, an increase of 2,360 cases compared with the previous seven-day period.


The total number of infected people reportedly reaches 779.37 million.
