Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and George Washington University have discussed opportunities for joint educational programs, academic research and human capital development.
The discussions took place during a meeting between SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and Sevinj Mammadova, vice provost of George Washington University, SOCAR told Caliber.Az.
The sides noted that the signing of the “Letter of Intent on Cooperation between SOCAR and George Washington University” during Baku Energy Week had opened new opportunities for partnership. They also reviewed progress made in implementing the agreement.
University representatives were briefed on SOCAR’s global expansion strategy and the projects being carried out by the company in Azerbaijan and abroad.
The meeting also highlighted cooperation between Baku Higher Oil School and George Washington University in training highly qualified specialists. The sides stressed the importance of further expanding that partnership and discussed joint projects, as well as cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
