A drone may have struck a train travelling from Kyiv to Mykolaiv, UNIAN reported on Wednesday, September 16, citing several Telegram channels. No official confirmation has been issued by Ukrainian authorities or railway officials.
The reported incident came amid a wider wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine that Ukrainian authorities said killed at least five people and wounded more than a dozen over the preceding 24 hours.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Tuesday afternoon that at least 12 people had been wounded in attacks on the capital since the morning. One of them, who was in extremely critical condition, later died in hospital.
Kyiv police said the attacks damaged warehouses, a business centre and a fast-food restaurant. Ukrainian media reported that the restaurant was a McDonald’s.
In the southern city of Kherson, a 74-year-old woman was killed in a Russian drone strike, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
Local authorities also reported that two men, aged 38 and 60, were wounded in another drone attack on the Kherson region on Tuesday morning.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, acting regional military administration head Mykhailo Semkin said a man was killed and a woman injured in another attack that was reportedly aimed at energy infrastructure.
Two additional people were killed and one wounded in shelling in Sloviansk, in the eastern part of Donetsk region, local authorities said.
Ukraine’s Armed Forces said Russia launched 200 drones over the country overnight, of which 187 were shot down.
The reports of a strike on the Kyiv–Mykolaiv train had not been independently verified, and no further details were immediately available.
