BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Nobel Prize
laureate in Chemistry, world-renowned scientist, physician and
academician Aziz Sancar has sent a letter of gratitude to President
of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
This was reported by the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs of
Azerbaijan.
In the letter, Sancar described being awarded the "Shohrat"
Order as one of the greatest sources of pride and joy in his life.
He expressed his deep gratitude to the head of state for the high
honor.
Sancar stressed that his love for Azerbaijan has always been
based on sincere feelings and has never been motivated by
expectations of anything in return. He said that Azerbaijan has
always held a special place in his heart as a homeland as dear to
him as Türkiye.
The scientist noted that he would wear the "Shohrat" Order with
great pride not only as recognition of his scientific work, but
also as a symbol of the brotherhood based on the "One nation, two
states" principle.
It should be recalled that, under an order signed by President
Ilham Aliyev on September 7, 2026, Aziz Sancar was awarded the
"Shohrat" Order for his special services in strengthening
Azerbaijan’s international scientific and humanitarian
cooperation.
