Russia's Transport Ministry has established a special task force to coordinate freight transportation and develop alternative logistics routes amid Ukrainian drone attacks on vessels in the Sea of Azov.
The ministry said in a post on Telegram that the move is aimed at ensuring cargo logistics in the Azov-Black Sea basin as security risks in the area continue to grow, Caliber.Az reports.
"Due to the tense situation in the Sea of Azov caused by Ukrainian drone attacks on maritime vessels, the Russian Transport Ministry is taking all necessary measures to ensure freight logistics in the Azov-Black Sea basin. A special task force has been established to coordinate transportation," the ministry noted.
According to the ministry, the task force will oversee the development of alternative logistics routes and redirect cargo flows to other modes of transport in order to protect the transport sector and Russia's economic interests.
The ministry added that several stevedoring companies are prepared to handle additional cargo volumes and increase terminal loading capacity in line with their operational capabilities.
It also said that additional measures are being implemented jointly with the Defence Ministry to enhance maritime security and protect vessels operating in the Azov-Black Sea basin.
